Shepherd's pie



Ingredients:
  1. 500 gm minced lamb/ goat meat
  2. 3 tsp olive oil
  3. 2 medium sized  chopped onion
  4. 2 chopped garlic
  5. 1 spoon thyme
  6. 1 spoon Rosemary
  7. 1 spoon oregano
  8. 1 spoon black pepper
  9. 2 chopped carrot
  10. 8-10  medium sized potatoes
  11. 3 tsp butter
  12. Salt to taste. 
  13. 2 spoon  papaya paste

Shepherd's pie consists of a bottom layers of minced lamb/goat meat & a top layer of mashed potatoes.

Recipe: 

Mashed potato topping:
  1. Peel & cut your potatoes. 
  2. Boil them in a pressure cooker. 
  3. Drain the potatoes & keep them in a large bowl. 
  4. Mash the potatoes using a masher until they are smooth & fluffy. 
  5. Add salt, butter & black pepper to the mashed potatoes, mix well & keep aside.
Minced lamb/goat meat filling:
  1. In a large kadai, add olive oil & fry the minced meat till the water disappears & keep aside. 
  2. In the same kadai, saute the chopped onions till they become soft. 
  3. Add chopped garlic & saute for 2 minutes. 
  4. Add chopped carrot & fry for 2-3 minutes. 
  5. Add cooked minced meat, papaya paste, herbs, salt & pepper. 
  6. Keep stirring for few minutes. 
  7. Cover & cook on low flame till the meat is done. 
  8. Transfer the meat to your baking dish & spread it uniformly. 
  9. Add mashed potatoes on the top of the minced meat layer. 
  10. Spread carefully in to an even layer using a spatula. 
  11. Preheat the oven at 200-220 degree Celsius & bake it for half an hour till the top potato layer is brown.
Shepherd's pie is ready to eat.
